Accessibility Statement

Effective Date: July 17, 2026
Last Reviewed: July 17, 2026

Our Commitment

The Ball Club Register is committed to making its website and content accessible to as many people as reasonably possible, including visitors who use screen readers, keyboard navigation, browser magnification, voice control, and other assistive technologies.

The Ball Club Register is operated by The Lopper.

Accessibility is an ongoing responsibility. We continue to review the website, correct barriers, and improve the experience as the Register grows.

Accessibility Goal

We use the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, version 2.2, Level AA, as a reference point for our accessibility work.

This statement describes our goal and ongoing efforts. It is not a claim that every page or feature fully conforms to every WCAG 2.2 success criterion.

Measures We Take

Our accessibility efforts include:

  1. Using clear page titles and descriptive headings where the website platform allows.

  2. Providing text alternatives for meaningful images.

  3. Using readable text sizes and sufficient visual contrast.

  4. Supporting keyboard navigation.

  5. Maintaining visible focus indicators.

  6. Providing labels and instructions for forms.

  7. Using descriptive link and button text.

  8. Designing pages to work at different screen sizes.

  9. Reviewing the website at increased browser zoom.

  10. Testing important visitor paths on desktop and mobile devices.

  11. Providing contact options for reporting accessibility barriers.

  12. Reviewing accessibility when new club pages, forms, features, or content types are introduced.

Platform Generated Components

The website is built and hosted using Squarespace.

Certain portfolio, gallery, form, pagination, and navigation components are generated by the platform. Some technical details, including particular heading levels, labels, or structural markup, may not be independently adjustable through the standard site editor.

Where a platform generated limitation cannot be changed directly, we seek reasonable alternatives through page structure, descriptive text, custom styling, visible navigation, or other available controls.

We continue to monitor these components as Squarespace updates its platform.

Long Pages and Image Collections

Individual club records contain substantial written histories and large collections of images, artifacts, uniforms, ballpark views, people, and records.

We are working to make these pages easier to navigate through:

  1. Clear section headings.

  2. Descriptive image text.

  3. Consistent page structures.

  4. Links back to the Ball Clubs archive.

  5. Internal page navigation where practical.

  6. Responsive layouts for smaller screens.

Because the Register is an expanding archive, accessibility review continues as new content is added.

Forms

We aim to make newsletter and contact forms understandable and usable with:

  1. Visible labels.

  2. Required field identification.

  3. Clear instructions.

  4. Error messages.

  5. Confirmation messages.

  6. Keyboard access.

  7. Privacy information.

A visitor who cannot use a form may contact us through an available email method.

Third Party Content and Services

The website may link to or use services provided by Squarespace, Google, Instagram, and other third parties.

We do not control every aspect of an unaffiliated third party service. Their accessibility practices may differ from ours.

If a third party feature creates a barrier, please contact us. We will make a reasonable effort to provide the relevant information or service through another method when practical.

Known Limitations

We are currently reviewing or improving:

  1. Heading structures generated by certain portfolio and gallery components.

  2. Labels associated with previous and next project navigation.

  3. Keyboard behavior of platform generated navigation and hidden commerce elements.

  4. Navigation within long club records.

  5. Accessibility of large image collections.

  6. Consistency of forms across all pages.

  7. Mobile and browser behavior across different devices.

These items do not necessarily affect every visitor or every page. They remain part of our ongoing accessibility review.

Accessibility Feedback

We welcome feedback about the accessibility of The Ball Club Register.

When reporting a barrier, please include as much of the following information as you are comfortable providing:

  1. The page or feature involved.

  2. A description of the problem.

  3. The browser and device being used.

  4. The assistive technology being used, when applicable.

  5. The format or alternative that would help you access the information.

Accessibility questions or reports may be submitted through the Contact page.

Our Response

We review accessibility reports and make reasonable efforts to:

  1. Acknowledge the concern.

  2. Understand the barrier.

  3. Provide the requested information in another accessible format when practical.

  4. Correct the issue when it is within our control.

  5. Report a platform generated issue to the relevant service provider when appropriate.

The time required to address a report may depend on the nature of the barrier, the affected technology, and whether a third party platform controls the feature.
